About the Recipe
This vegan bacon is healthy and delicious. With a slight crunch and sweet, salty, and smoky flavor, you'll never miss bacon made from animals!
Ingredients
1 package of tempeh (8 ounces) or 1 block of firm tofu (14 - 16 oz)
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp liquid smoke
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp vegan Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp maple syrup
½ tsp black pepper
½ tsp garlic powder
Preparation
Step 1
Pre-heat oven to 375. Slice tempeh into 1/8" thick slices and place in a shallow dish.
Step 2
Combine all marinade ingredients in a small bowl and whisk together.
Step 3
Pour marinade over tempeh slices and let marinate for 20 minutes, flipping tempeh half way through.
Step 4
Place marinated tempeh slices on parchment paper lined baking sheet and drizzle leftover marinade on top.
Step 5
Bake at 375 for 30 - 45 minutes until tempeh is browned and slightly crispy.
